BLACKSBURG – Kicker Kyle Lowe will wear the No. 25 jersey when the Hokies travel to play Syracuse this Saturday. The contest will be the redshirt junior’s third time honoring the legacy of historic Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer. Lowe and the Hokies will match up against the Orange in the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, Nov. 3 at noon ET with live coverage on CW Sports.

After kicking in all 13 games for the Hokies as a redshirt sophomore last season, Lowe has picked up right where he left off. Through eight games this season, Lowe has retained an average of 62.9 yards per kickoff on 48 kicks, 32 of which have been touchbacks. His 3,020 kickoff yards have already eclipsed his 2022 total, and currently ranks fifth amongst ACC kickers.

When Lowe suits up this weekend, he will become just the third special teams player to wear No. 25 three times. The Midlothian, Virginia native will also become the only kicker in Tech program history to honor Frank Beamer three different times, with his most recent outing against Rutgers on Sept. 16, 2023.

The weekly tradition of wearing No. 25 started in 2016 and has continued each season. Each week, a member of the special teams wears the number to recognize how influential Frank Beamer was to Tech football both as a player and a coach. The jersey number was retired in 2002. Fans can find more information on who has worn the jersey here.
