Peck racks up three hits in No. 16/18 Virginia Tech's win at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The No. 16/18 Virginia Tech Hokies took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-1 victory over the Liberty Flames on Wednesday.

Junior Emma Lemley (12-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Virginia Tech (39-11-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out seven.

In the batter's box, the Hokies were paced by junior Bre Peck, who went 3-for-4 on the day with a home run and two RBI. Senior Addy Greene put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Senior Cameron Fagan also helped out for Virginia Tech, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double and two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning. Virginia Tech plated two runs when Greene left the yard with senior Emma Ritter aboard.

The Hokies then held the Flames scoreless before expanding their lead in the fifth inning. Virginia Tech scored twice on Peck's two-run homer, which brought the Hokies lead to 4-0. Liberty put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Virginia Tech still held on for the 4-1 win.
