Lemley tosses eight strikeouts in No. 15/11 Virginia Tech's 5-2 loss to No. 5/5 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. --Junior Emma Lemley was dominant on Saturday, fanning eight Duke hitters over 5.1 innings of work, but it was not enough as the No. 15/11 Virginia Tech Hokies lost to the No. 5/5 Blue Devils 5-2.

In addition to her eight strikeouts, Lemley (6-3) threw 5.1 innings, giving up five runs, all of them earned, on six hits and walking none for Virginia Tech (25-8-1).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hokies were trailing 1-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Virginia Tech plated two runs when senior Emma Ritter left the yard with freshman Annika Rohs aboard. The Hokies were unable to hold the lead, as Duke scored four times over the remaining five innings to grab the 5-2 win.
