Ketchum, DiNunzio tabbed VaSID All-State

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech's Morgan Ketchum and Becca DiNunzio were selected to the 2022-23 VaSID (Virginia Sports Information Directors) Women's Golf University Division All-State first team, as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon. In addition, Ketchum was tabbed Rookie of the Year in the Commonwealth.

In her first year in Blacksburg, Ketchum led the Hokies with a 72.45 scoring average. It was the second-best, single-season scoring average in program history, and best among first-year players. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native finished the season on a tear by concluding her final three tournaments in red figures.

Ketchum tallied a team-best 18 par-or-better rounds and finished in red figures in seven of her last 10 18-hole rounds. She was the co-medalist at the Clemson Invitational, totaling a 5-under 211 (69-70-72). Ketchum advanced to the Raleigh Regional where she signed for a 3-under 213 (72-70-71) to tie for fourth.

DiNunzio finished second on the team in scoring average at 73.48. She had a pair of top-10 finishes on the year including the Clemson Invitational, where she tied for fifth at 3-under 213 (70-72-71). The senior fired a 6-under 207 (68-69-70) to tie for seventh at the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Collegiate. DiNunzio competed as an individual at the Raleigh Regional, tying for 49th. For the season, she manufactured 10 par-or-better rounds (second on the team).

Two of the major VaSID awards went to Virginia, headlined by sophomore Amanda Sambach, who took home VaSID Player of the Year. Virginia head coach Ria Scott was named VaSID Coach of the Year.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in Virginia.
