BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head men's tennis coach Jim Thompson announced the 2023 spring schedule on Tuesday.
The Hokies are scheduled to play a total of 23 dual matches on the year, 15 of which will be held in Blacksburg.
The season opens on Jan. 15 with JMU and Queens College coming to town before the Hokies have their first road test in Norfolk, Va. facing Old Dominion on Jan. 27.
Tech will embark on a month long homestand starting with matches against St. Bonaventure and Davidson (Feb. 3) followed by another double-header featuring a marquee matchup against national runner-up Kentucky and in-state foe George Mason (Feb. 5).
The rest of the non-conference slate includes matches against MTSU (Feb. 12), Michigan State (Feb. 17), VCU (Feb. 26) and Harvard (March 24).
During the conference portion of the schedule, Florida State (March 3), Miami (March 5), Duke (March 17), UNC (March 19), Georgia Tech (April 14) and Clemson (April 16) will all come to Blacksburg, while the Hokies will take on Notre Dame (March 10), Louisville (March 12), Virginia (March 22), Boston College (March 26), NC State (April 7) and Wake Forest (April 9), on the road.
This year's ACC Championship Tournament will be played April 19-23 at the Cary Tennis Center in Cary, NC.
Tech aims to build upon an impressive fall campaign that featured an ITA Regional singles title and doubles runner-up finish earning ITA National bids for Ryan Fishback and Alberto Orso. Four Hokies were named in the final ITA standings this fall with Fishback reaching No. 32 in singles and No. 13 in doubles alongside Jordan Chrysostom.
