Virginia Tech announces 2022 volleyball schedule

2022 Schedule

BLACKSBURG – Head coach Marci Byers announced the 2022 Virginia Tech volleyball schedule on Wednesday, which features 15 home matches in Cassell Coliseum.

"We are excited about the 2022 season and feel our preseason schedule gives us enough variety in teams that will challenge our young team," Byers said. "Balancing our tournaments with two home and two away was very important for us to do. So thrilled we will be able to play in front of our Hokie fans a few times before starting ACC play!"

The Hokies begin their 30-match slate with a home exhibition against James Madison on August 16, with first serve at 1 p.m. Tech will then open the season 10 days later at UNC Wilmington, taking on Coastal Carolina, Davidson and the host Seahawks.

The Hokie Invitational will take place September 2-3 as Virginia Tech will welcome Coppin State, Marist and Old Dominion. The Hokies open the tournament with a Noon match against the Eagles.

The last two tournaments prior to ACC play will see the Hokies at DePaul on September 9 and 10, followed by the Virginia Tech Classic on September 15 and 16. The Hokies will take on Norfolk State at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th and will either play Western Carolina or App State depending on the results of the Thursday matches.

ACC play begins on the road for Tech, making the trip to Clemson on September 23, followed by a Sunday match at Georgia Tech, an NCAA Tournament team a season ago. Other ACC road matches for the Hokies include Louisville (2021 Final Four team), Notre Dame, Florida State, Miami, Virginia, Wake Forest and Boston College.

The home ACC opener will see the Hokies take on Boston College at 6 p.m. on September 30, followed by a match against Syracuse at 1 p.m. Including opening weekend, the Hokies will have nine home ACC matches throughout the back half of the schedule.

The final regular season match for Tech will take place on Friday, November 25 as Notre Dame makes the trip to Blacksburg for a 1 p.m. match.

The Hokies welcome several newcomers and return multiple starters for the 2022 campaign, including Logan Mosley who reached 1,000 career digs a season ago, as well as Cera Powell who registered 2.56 kills per set and Brie Postema, the team leader in assists with 538.
