Sarah Lubnow, Olivia Vergano honored amongst conference’s best

Virginia Tech attacker Sarah Lubnow was named to the ACC's Second Team while midfielder Olivia Vergano earned All-Freshman Team accolades the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Both athletes earned the first postseason accolades of their careers.

Lubnow, a graduate student is having a career season, starting all 17 contests and posting highs in goals (44) and points (61). She became the program's all-time leader in assists in March and recently scored her 100th career goal.

The Great Falls, Virginia native has scored nine hat tricks this season including a five-goal effort in a win over Elon and she has posted six or more points twice in 2022.
She ranks fifth all-time with 182 career points at VT and will crack the top 10 in goals scored with another four.

Vergano, a freshman from West Babylon, New York has started 15 of 16 games played and scored 38 goals and 43 points this season.

She was named the ACC's Co-Offensive Player of the Week on March 15 after scoring four goals in wins over Notre Dame and Winthrop. Vergano is the only freshman to win an ACC weekly award in 2022.

The midfielder has scored seven hat tricks, including scoring six at Furman on March 15 and has two game-winning goals to her credit. 

The Hokies will take on the two-seed Boston College in the ACC Tournament on Friday, April 29 at 5 p.m. That game can be seen on ACC Network.
