BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech returns to Panama City Beach, Florida for the 2022 ACC Men's Golf Championship, which runs Friday through Monday at Shark's Tooth Golf Course.

The Hokies, who opened their spring slate at the Watersound Invitational that was hosted on the same course, look to recapture some of their exceptional play from late-February. In that tournament, Tech beat eighth nationally-ranked squads to place fourth out of 14 teams with a 2-under 862.

Daniel Azallion led the Tech contingent with a 2-under 214 to tie for 13th. He will be joined in the Sunshine State by Connor Burgess, Connor Johnson Jr., Kobe Valociek, Charlie Hanson and Drew Brockwell.

Burgess leads the Hokies in scoring average at 71.19. Azallion is right behind at 71.22. The Tech duo has played in all 27 rounds for the Hokies this season. Burgess and Azallion have charted six and five top-20 showings, respectively.

North Carolina enters as the top seed for the conference championship based on its No. 5 Golfstat ranking. The ACC has seven teams ranked inside the top 26 in the nation.

Friday's action will feature 36 holes of continuous stroke play, followed by Saturday's final 18 holes of stroke play. Upon completion of the final round, the top four teams will advance to match play, which begins Sunday with semifinal matches at 9 a.m. CT. Monday's championship match is set for a 9 a.m. CT start as well and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

Tech is paired with Virginia and Boston College for Friday's opening two rounds. Tee times run from 8:30-9:18 a.m. CT for the group off the 10th hole.

One point will be on the line this week for the Commonwealth Clash, presented by Smithfield, as Tech and UVA will battle to be the top finisher following stroke play.
