SOUTH BEND, Ind.– Virginia Tech gave No. 46 Notre Dame all it could handle on Friday evening, as the Hokies fell, 5-2. Freshmen Dariya Radulova and Charlotte Cartledge picked up wins for Tech.

In doubles, the Hokies grabbed a win from Elizabet Danailova and Rita Pinto on Court 3. However, Notre Dame's No. 31-ranked duo of Page Freeman and Maria Olivia Castedo answered back with a win on Court 1, while it clinched the point on Court 2.

Virginia Tech continued to fight in singles and started out strong as Danailova took the first set off No. 90 Freeman. Radulova, Cartledge and Aksu also picked up first set wins against the Fighting Irish. Danailova and Aksu's opponents pulled back the second sets, however, while Notre Dame also added straight-set wins on Court 2 and Court 4. Freeman locked up the win for the hosts with her three-set victory against Danailova.

Radulova and Cartledge never let up their intensity, as Radulova powered through to a 6-1, 7-5 victory on court 3. Cartledge wrapped up the day for the Hokies on Court 6 with a 7-5, 6-4 result.

Virginia Tech now travels to Louisville for a noon match on Sunday.
