GREENSBORO, N.C. – The ACC announced its league tournament on Sunday evening, following the conclusion of its regular season league games, and the Virginia Tech women's basketball team will be the No. 5 seed and will play in the second round on Thursday at 11 a.m. ET on RSN against the winner of the Syracuse-Clemson game at Greensboro Coliseum.
The No. 5 seed ties the highest the Hokies (21-8, 13-5 ACC) have ever been in the ACC Tournament, with the lone other time coming in 2020. As a No. 5 seed, Tech is 0-1 all-time in the ACC Tournament.
Earlier this season, Tech ran past Syracuse (11-17, 4-14) with ease, 102-53, on Feb. 17, which was the biggest margin of victory against an ACC team in school history, and also defeated Clemson (9-20, 3-14) 73-42 on Feb. 8. If the Hokies win their second-round game in Greensboro, they will face fourth-seeded North Carolina (23-5, 13-5) on Friday at 11 a.m. on RSN. Tech and the Tar Heels split during the regular season.
