Fresh off a season-opening victory over then-No. 10 North Carolina, the 19th-ranked Virginia Tech football team welcomes Middle Tennessee to Lane Stadium for a non-conference clash this Saturday afternoon, Sept. 11. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.
Tickets to Saturday's game are still available starting at $45. Click here to find tickets.
Below are five things to know ahead of this Saturday's matchup between the Hokies and the Blue Raiders:
1. Enter Lane Stadium early to experience the Military Appreciation Day festivities. Tech's annual Military Appreciation Day will take place this Saturday, and fans will not want to miss this year's edition. Approximately 20 minutes prior to kickoff, the U.S. Army contracting ceremony will take place at mid-field. Following the Highty-Tighties' pregame performance, there will be a military salute leading into the National Anthem. At the conclusion of the National Anthem, a C-130-J-130 Super Hercules will fly over Lane Stadium with a crew including pilots David "Brick" Jacobs of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets ('11), Major Joe "Duck" Hunt and Loadmaster Staff Sergeant Stephen Lail.
2. WEAR WHITE. For those fans in attendance, Saturday's contest will serve as the Hokies' White Effect game. Official White Effect T-shirts are still available for purchase online, and will also be available on-site in Hokie Village and Lot 4 before kickoff, as well as inside Lane Stadium. Every purchase of this year's White Effect T-shirt supports the recovery of wounded service members and veterans through Operation Hat Trick.
3. Several adjustments have been made this week to continue to improve the fan experience at Lane Stadium. Following a diligent review of areas for improvement from last week's game against North Carolina, the Tech athletics department announced modifications surrounding student section seating, concessions, entry gates and mobile ticketing. 4. Download mobile tickets BEFORE arriving at Lane Stadium. For last Friday's home opener, over 85% of fans had downloaded tickets to their mobile wallet before they arrived on campus. Having the HokieSports app on a mobile device and being able to see tickets is not the same as having downloaded tickets to Apple Wallet or to Google Pay. The HokieSports app requires the internet to access a ticket account, but once tickets have been downloaded from the app to Apple Wallet or Google Pay, they live on that device. No internet is necessary to access mobile tickets once they are downloaded to Apple Wallet or Google Pay.
For those fans needing last-minute assistance in downloading their mobile tickets, complimentary WiFi will be available in Hokie Village and at all gates (excluding Gate 8). Fans should look for a network called HokiesTicketsFREE to access their ticket account on their mobile device.

5. Bruce Arians returns to Blacksburg. Former Tech quarterback and head coach of the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers Bruce Arians will be in attendance at Saturday's game. He will be recognized at halftime and lead the "Let's Go Hokies" chant to get the crowd fired up for the second half.
