Hokies set for final two matches

BLACKSBURG – To conclude the spring slate, the Virginia Tech volleyball team will hit the road to Clemson, South Carolina to face off against No.18 Pitt on Friday at 5 p.m. ET. Tech will then go up against Clemson on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET inside Jervey Gym with coverage available through the ACC Network Extra.

The Hokies enter the contest with five conference victories in Marci Byers's first year. Tech's last win was a 3-2 victory against Syracuse which put them at six wins on the season. In the contest, three Hokies reached double figures in kills including Kaity Smith (19 kills), Marisa Cerchio (16), Ashley Homan (15).
 
No. 18 Pitt is led by Dan Fisher who is in his eighth season as the head coach. Fisher notched three straight ACC Championships from 2017-2019. Pitt sits at 14-4 overall and 12-4 in the ACC. The Panthers have won 10 consecutive matches and are undefeated in the spring slate. 
 
Clemson has garnered a record of 11-9 on the season and 5-8 in conference play. The Tigers have dropped three of their last four outings with their last win coming over Boston College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Clemson is led by Michaela Franklin who is in her fourth season and has an overall record of 48-66.
 
NUMBERS TO KNOW FROM LAST WEEKEND
 

  • Outside hitter Homan now has 151 kills this season which is second on the team.

 

  • Libero Logan Mosley scooped up a season-high 25 digs a couple of weeks ago against Syracuse, Mosley now has 683 digs in her career.

 

  • Setter Brie Postema now has 122 assists over her last six outings. 

 

  •  Outside hitter Smith now has eight double-doubles on the season and a total of 30 in her career.
