HOKIES
Virginia Tech (4-4-2, 0-2-0 ACC) looks to get its spring campaign back on track against Commonwealth foes Virginia (5-5-1, 1-1-0 ACC) after dropping two home matches against Duke and No. 1 Clemson.
Despite the result, the Hokies have plenty of positive things to take away from their double overtime loss to the top-ranked Tigers last weekend. The lineup Tech put out experienced some significant shakeups, including five players making their first starts of the spring campaign.
The Hokies are riding a two-game unbeaten streak against the Cavaliers for only the second time in program history after defeating them 1-0 in Charlottesville in November and drawing Virginia 1-1 at home in October.
CAVALIERS
Virginia has split its last two league matches, defeating Notre Dame (8-5-0, 1-1-0 ACC), 1-0, in overtime at home and falling to No. 15 North Carolina (5-3-2, 2-0-0), 0-2, on the road.
The Cavaliers' forward Axel Gunnarsson leads the side in goals this season with three, though he hasn't found the back of the net in three games in 2021. Defending the goal for Virginia is keeper Alex Rando, who's recorded three shutouts this season, including two of the last three games.
