The offseason was not dull for the Hokies, who had two players drafted in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, including No. 1 overall pick Daniel Pereira (Austin FC). Senior Kristo Strickler (Houston Dynamo) was selected No. 30 and returns to compete with Tech in the spring. Strickler was named to the 2021 MAC Hermann watch list, as well.
The Chanticleers had their own success in the draft, as well, when goalkeeper Tor Saunders (Nashville SC) was selected in the third round.
In its last outing, Virginia Tech fell to eventual league champions Clemson in the 2020 ACC Championships, 4-1.
