SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to Syracuse on Friday afternoon, 4-3, inside the Drumlins Country Club.
After dropping the doubles point, the Hokies (2-5, 0-2) kept the Orange (4-3, 1-1) on the ropes throughout singles competition.
Senior Nina Sorkin got back to winning ways on Court 4, defeating Ines Fonte in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-1. Junior Rita Pinto earned her first win of the season playing on Court 3 as she defeated Miranda Ramirez, 7-5, 6-4. Freshman Tamara Barad Itzhaki wrapped up the day for Tech in a tightly contested battle on Court 2, downing former Hokie Natalie Novotna, 7-6, 2-6, 1-0.
The Hokies will return to the floor on Sunday at 10 a.m. to face Boston College (2-3, 1-3) in Weymouth, Mass.
