FINAL ROUND
Virginia Tech women's golfer Becca DiNunzio posted a three-round total of 222 and was the runner-up at the Women's Griffin Amateur on Sunday afternoon. The three-day event was played at the par 72, 6,225-yard East Course of the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina.
DiNunzio, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, fired a final-round 1-under 71. She finished five strokes behind medalist Lauren Walsh of Wake Forest. DiNunzio's 71 was tied for the lowest round in the tournament on Sunday.
Emily Mahar, a senior from Brisbane, Australia, tied for fourth at 224 and Jessica Spicer, a fifth-year player from Bahama, North Carolina, tied for eighth at 226. Alyssa Montgomery, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, finished in 12thplace at 229 and Sarah Spicer, a fifth-year player from Bahama, North Carolina, finished in 18thplace at 232. Jessica Spicer and Montgomery each shot final-round even-par 72, joining DiNunzio as only six players to record rounds of par-or-better on Sunday.

DiNunzio, a sophomore from Norfolk, Virginia, and Mahar, a senior from Brisbane, Australia, are eight strokes behind leader Lauren Walsh of Wake Forest. Jessica Spicer, a fifth-year player from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 11th at 154 and Alyssa Montgomery, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee, is tied for 15th at 157. Sarah Spicer, a fifth-year player from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 20th at 159. All five Hokies advanced to Sunday's final round, as the field was cut after Saturday's second round to the top 30 and ties.

Jessica Spicer, a fifth-year player from Bahama, North Carolina, is tied for 12that 77 and Alyssa Montgomery, a sophomore from Knoxville, Tennessee and Sarah Spicer, a fifth-year player from Bahama, North Carolina, are tied for 21stat 81.
The tournament features a strong group of collegiate players, all competing as individuals. Six ACC schools are represented in the field, along with individuals from other colleges, mainly from the Southeastern US in the 44-player field.
