Hokies hit NCAA automatic qualifying time on day one

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Virginia Tech men's swim team opened the 2020 ACC Championships with an NCAA automatic qualifying time on Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Tech also had a trio of program top-10s.
 
Blake Manoff, Lane Stone, Antani Ivanov and Filippo Dal Maso teamed up in the 800 free relay to notch an NCAA Automatic qualifying time of 6:16.36. Tech finished fourth overall in the event and recorded the second fastest time in program history.
 
Tech opened the session with the 200 medley relay as Forest Webb, Simon Shi, Manoff and Thomas Hallock posted a time of 1:25.03. It marked the second fastest time in program history and was a fifth-place finish for the Hokies.
 
The Hokies will be back in the pool on Thursday morning for the first full day of competition beginning with the 500 free prelims at 10 a.m.
