BLACKSBURG – After its winter break has come to a close, the Virginia Tech men's basketball team will be back in action on Sunday, wrapping up its nonconference slate with a 6 p.m. ET tilt versus Maryland Eastern Shore at Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.
The Hokies (9-3) will go up against a team that it played last year in the Hawks (1-13), winning on Dec. 28, 2018 by a score of 85-40. Tech leads the all-time series 9-0, with every game being played in Blacksburg since the series started in 1982.
Tech coach Mike Young is 1-0 versus The Shore, earning the win in 2015, 73-63.
The matchup with the Hawks will be broadcast on regional sports networks (click here), with Tom Werme (play-by-play) and Mike Gminski (analyst) on the call, while Jon Laaser (play-by-play) and Mike Burnop (analyst) will broadcast on Virginia Tech Sports Properties.

The last time out, Tech defeated VMI 64-55 behind its bench scoring 30-plus points for the second straight game. Guards Hunter Cattoor and Isaiah Wilkins were the two lone players in double figures for the Hokies, with both coming off the bench.
Tech is looking to keep its home nonconference winning streak alive, with it sitting at 31 games right now, which is a school record.
SCOUTING MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
• The Hawks are coming off a 76-52 loss at Old Dominion (4-9) last Sunday, but got big contributions from Ty Gibson and his 15-point, five-rebound, four-assist outing. Gibson, a Brooklyn, New York native, was Eastern Shore's lone player in double figures scoring.
• Jason Crafton enters his first season as the head coach in Princess Anne, following his one-year stint in the NBA's G-League, working as an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers' affiliate (Delaware Blue Coats). Before his time in the NBA, he was the head at Nyack College from 2012-18.
• The Shore is paced by Ty Gibson, who leads the team with a team-best 8.2 points and 2.2 assists per game. The Hawks also have two players averaging over seven points per game in Canaan Bartley (7.1) and Da'Shawn Phillip (7.1).
•. One of the better teams in the nation at swiping steals, the Hawks rank first in the MEAC and No. 22 nationally in steals per game, averaging 9.4 a contest. They rank second in the conference in blocks per game with 3.5.
