Tech defeats Flippo Baskets, completes Foreign Tour 3-0

FLORENCE, ITALY – After a day that consisted of a bike tour of the city of Lucca and time around Florence to shop and catch up on rest, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team was back on the hardwood Monday afternoon taking on Flippo Baskets of Germany, in their final game of the 2019 Foreign Tour.

Tech once again was victorious, pulling away in the second half with large runs, sparked on the defensive end with transition baskets. Dara Mabrey led the team with 15 points on 5 of 11 shooting beyond the arc, and Aisha Sheppard added 13 points and five rebounds.

In the frontcourt, Trinity Baptiste had nine points and six rebounds, while Lydia Rivers had a team-high eight boards.

As a team, Tech connected on 11 3-pointers on the afternoon, as the program closed out the Tour 3-0.

In the morning, the group will travel via bus and boat north to the island city of Venice, where they will be for the remaining two days of the Foreign Tour. Upon arrival in Venice, the Hokies will have the opportunity to take gondola rides and then will stretch their legs with a walking tour of the city, followed by a visit to St. Mark's Church.
