Ian Ho named to Google Cloud Academic All-District 3 team

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech graduate student and men's swimmer Ian Ho has been selected to the 2018-10 Google Cloud Academic All-District 3 Men's At-Large team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Ho is one of 10 student-athletes on the District 3 team. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering, Ho is currently pursuing his master's in the same program. In addition, Ho is a three-time All-ACC Academic Team selection, a CSCAA Academic All-America and earned the ACC Postgrad Scholarship.
 
The Blacksburg, Virginia native wrapped up a swim career that left his name etched in the Virginia Tech record books. He holds the program record in the 50 free and as a member of the 200 free relay team. Ho is a three-time NCAA qualifier and an Olympic Trials qualifier. Most recently, Ho earned 2019 Gold Medal and set a Hong Kong national record in the 50 at the Hong Kong Open.
 
The district teams are selected by members of CoSIDA and honor the nation's top student-athletes for their performances in both athletics and the in the classroom. There are eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. To be eligible for the team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher and have at least a 3.30 grade point average. Ho will now advance to the national ballot for voting later this month.
