Hokies down William & Mary 5-2

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. –  The Virginia Tech women's tennis team defeated William and Mary 5-2 on Wednesday at McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
 
Tech (6-7, 1-3 ACC) took the lead early after claiming the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Natalie Novotna and Rita Pinto got the 6-2 win on one. Sarah Baron and Samantha Gillas teamed up for a 6-3 win on court three.
 
On court four, Gillas gave the Hokies a 2-0 lead winning 6-1, 6-1. Elizabet Danailova claimed a 6-3, 6-1 victory on court three to give Tech the 3-0 advantage.
 
Rita Pinto secured the team win for the Hokies after picking up the match 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(4) on court six.  
 
Nika Kozar claimed a 6-1, 5-7, 7-6(4) win on court two.
 
William and Mary picked up victories on courts one and five.
 
The Hokies return to Blacksburg for match against UAB on Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m.
