BLACKSBURG - It is a very busy weekend for the Hokies both home and away. Tech is set to host seven contests across four sports in Blacksburg while seven other Hokie teams are on the road, including men's basketball, wrestling and women's swimming and diving competing in their respective NCAA postseason events.

The Virginia Tech baseball team (15-6, 3-3 ACC) continues ACC play this weekend with a three-game set against No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels (16-6, 2-4 ACC). The series marks Tech's ACC home opening weekend. The Hokies have won 6-of-7, including a midweek sweep over High Point and Marshall, and also won two-of-three last weekend at Pittsburgh. Since losing in extra innings at Florida State (March 8), the Hokies have won 7-of-9.

The Virginia Tech men's tennis team (10-5, 1-3 ACC) is set to host a pair of weekend ACC matches beginning with Clemson (8-10, 1-4 ACC) on Friday, March 22 at 2:30 p.m. The Hokies will then host No. 44 Georgia Tech (8-6, 3-2 ACC) in a noon match on Sunday, March 23. Virginia Tech is coming off a 5-2 win over No. 44 Duke. The Blue Devils claimed the doubles point, but the Hokies came back strong in singles to win five of the six matches.

Virginia Tech (7-4, 0-1 ACC) is coming off a midweek 16-8 win over Elon. It was the Hokies final non-conference game of the season as they welcome Louisville to Thompson Field on Saturday. The Cardinals (4-7, 0-3 ACC) fell to Syracuse 14-7 last weekend.

The Hokies defeated Furman 92-65 in the opening round of the WNIT on Thursday night to advance to Sunday's game against VCU (24-9). With the win, Tech improves to 21-11 on the season. Tech connected on 14 baskets from outside the arc, pushing the team to the win. VCU defeated Charlote 65-52 to advance.

Virginia Tech (24-8, 12-6 ACC) is making a program record third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The Hokies will face St. Louis (23-12, 10-8 A10) in the opening round on Friday night. Tech got some big news this past week as it was announced senior guard Justin Robinson, who had been sidelined by injury for 12 games, has been cleared for competition.

The Virginia Tech women's swimming and diving team will be represented by two swimmers and a diver at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, beginning Thursday, March 21.

The Virginia Tech men's golf team heads to South Carolina to compete in the Furman Intercollegiate. The three-day, 20-team field will play the par 72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Virginia Tech track and field teams start the outdoor season this weekend and will split up and head to three meets. The Winthrop invitational and Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitationals will begin on Friday and go through Saturday, while the Hokies will only compete on Friday at the Florida State relays. The sprints group will head down to the sunshine state on Florida States' campus, the throw group will head to Vanderbilt's campus in the Volunteer State and the jumps/ multi-events group will head to the Palmetto State on Winthrop's campus.

Virginia Tech will have three quarterfinalists and five wrestlers in the consolation bracket Friday for the second day of the of the 2019 NCAA Championships in PPG Paints Arena. The Hokies are currently tied with Nebraska for eighth place in the team race with 16.0 points. Action resumes Friday at 11 a.m.

Tech looks to bounce back after falling to a pair of ACC opponents last weekend. The weekend marks the Hokies final road swing of the season before they return to Blacksburg for a five-match home stand.

The Hokies enter the weekend ranked 24th to face-off against the 4-22 Panthers. Tech claimed a midweek win the last time out, defeating Lipscomb 9-7 in Blacksburg. In addition, the Hokies claimed two midweek wins over Binghamton, outscoring the Bearcats 21-1 in the doubleheader.
