CLEMSON, S.C. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision on the road at Clemson, Friday afternoon at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.
Tech (1-4, 0-1 ACC) fell behind early after Clemson (5-4, 1-1 ACC) took the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. On court one Sarah Baron and Natalie Novotna fell to the No. 3 ranked doubles team of Marie Leduc and Fernanda Navarro. Nika Kozar and Nina Sorkin were able to win on court two but Clemson picked up the point after winning on court three.
Clemson went up 2-0 after No. 64 Fernanda Navarro defeated Nika Kozar on court two.
On court four, the Hokies would cut the lead to 2-1 with Nina Sorkin picking up the win against Ally Miller-Krasilnikov 6-1, 6-2.
Clemson got the team victory after picking up wins on courts three, six and five. On court one after dropping the first set in a tie breaker 6-7(3) No. 121 Natalie Novotna battled back to win the second set 6-3 and the super tie-breaker 10-8 to claim the second point for the Hokies.
The Hokies return to Blacksburg for a doubleheader on Sunday, February 10 beginning with Delaware at 10 a.m. and then taking on Marshall at 4 p.m.
