Hokies host two, on the road to open ACC slate

BLACKSBURG  – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team will return to action this weekend. The Hokies' will host a double header on Friday against Duquesne and Liberty, before travelling to Raleigh to face off against ACC foe No. 29 NC State.

THE HOKIES
Tech has not seen competition since the Hokies dominant performance two weekends ago. Out of four matches in two days, the Hokies walked away with 4-0 victories in all of the matches. Senior Jason Kros (No. 58) led the way with four wins, followed by freshman Evan Fragistas with three. Freshman Brandon Perez had two victories, while junior Henrik Korsgaard and sophomores Carlo Donato and Chase Bernstine had a win apiece.
 
Entering the weekend, Mitch Harper is ranked at No. 41 while Kros is No. 58. In doubles, Alex and Korsgaard are tabbed No. 25 while Donato and Harper are No. 47.
 
THE DUKES
Duquesne is coming off a two-win weekend, with victories against Toledo and Mercyhurst. Tech is 2-0 all-time against the Dukes and this will be the first time the squads have met since 2000.
 
THE FLAMES
Last weekend, Liberty faced off against George Washington and William & Mary, winning both matches. They have one ranked player on their roster, Nicaise Muamba (No. 99). Tech lead the all-time series 2-0, most recently defeating the Flames 6-1 in Blacksburg last year.
 
THE WOLFPACK
NC State enter this match-up ranked No. 29 in the country. In their last outing, they defeated Old Dominion by a score of 6-1. The Wolfpack have one player ranked, Alexis Galarneau enters the weekend at No. 43. The Hokies lead the series 15-9, but dropped the match-up last year to then-ranked No. 16 Wolfpack, 4-3.
