Fragistas wins on final day of Georgia Tech Invite

ATLANTA – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team wrapped up the final day of the Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
 
Freshman Evan Fragistas rallied to defeat Georgia's Britton Johnston. After giving up a close first set tiebreak 7-6(2), Fragistas rallied to claim the final two sets, 6-3, 6-2. 
 
Tech will wrap up the fall slate next weekend as four Hokies are set to compete at the ITA Fall Championships.

DAY TWO
ATLANTA – 
The Virginia Tech men's tennis team wrapped up the second day of competition on Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. 
 
In the consolation draw, Carlo Donato won two matches. He opened by defeating Vanderbilt's Marcus Ferreira with straight set scores of 6-4, 7-5. In his second match of the day, he posted a 7-5, 7-6(3) decision over Georgia State's Bailey Showers. 
 
Ryan Kros and Evan Fragistas fell in the second round of the white singles main draw. Kros dropped the 6-2, 6-4 decision to the host team's Brandon Freestone. 
 
Fragistas battled against Vanderbilt's Alex Ross after falling in the first set 6-0. The Tech freshman rallied to win the second 6-4, but the Vanderbilt player responded to secure it 6-2 in the third. Fragistas bounced back in his consolation match, defeating Georgia's Sam Dromsky 6-2, 6-1. 
 
The Hokies will wrap up the Georgia Tech Invite on Sunday.

DAY ONE
ATLANTA – 
The Virginia Tech men's tennis team picked up wins on Friday during the opening day of the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. 
 
Ryan Kros and Evan Fragistas battled in their singles matches today as both went to three sets in the white main draw. Kros squared off against Georgia's Britton Johnston, winning the first set 6-3. The Bulldogs' player came back to take the second 6-4, but Kros rallied for the 6-3 win in the third.
 
Fragistas also faced a UGA competitor in Blake Croyder. The first set ended in a tiebreaker with Croyder holding out to win it 7-6(4). Fragistas responded to win the second 6-3, but the third also ended up in a tiebreaker as the Hokies freshman secured it 7-6(4). 
 
The Hokies will be back on the court Saturday for the next round.
