Mark Lawrence Jr. named All-State

Mark Lawrence Jr. been named to the 2018 VaSID All-State University Division Men's Golf team, in voting by the Virginia Sports Information Directors organization.

Lawrence, a rising senior from Richmond, Virginia, makes the first team for the second consecutive season. He led the team in scoring average at 71.45 and in final round scoring average at 70.27. He was named to the 2018 All-ACC team and the 2018 All-East Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He was selected as an individual to compete in the 2018 NCAA Raleigh Regional. Earlier this month, Lawrence was named first team all-state by the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association.

Virginia's Thomas Walsh was named the Player of the Year and the Liberty's Jeff Thomas was named VaSID Coach of the Year. Ignacio Montero of James Madison was named VaSID Rookie of the Year.

Lawrence and Walsh were joined on the first team by Radford's Myles Creighton, Liberty's Mickey DeMorat and UVa's Danny Walker. The second team consists of Montero and Matt Cowgill of James Madison, Ervin Chang of Liberty, Eric Edwards of George Mason and Kristian Tannum Donaldson of VCU.
