BLACKSBURG – The No. 16 Virginia Tech lacrosse team gets back on the field on Saturday, March 24th at 1 p.m. when they take on the Elon Phoenix.
In their last game, the Hokies dominated VCU, winning 22-7 taking their overall record to 8-3. Five Hokies got on the board making it their highest-scoring game of the season. Paige Petty scored a new career high five goals against the Rams, as did Tristan McGinley. Those two lead the Hokies in points on the season at 30 (McGinley) and 27 (Petty).

With a victory on Saturday, Tech can notch their fifth straight win. It would be tied for the longest winning streak of the John Sungera.
Elon (1-7) is coming off of their first win of the season, defeating Coastal Carolina 14-6 Wednesday afternoon. The matchup with Tech will be their fifth game against ranked opposition. The previous four included Duke, Virginia, Stanford and North Carolina all resulting in losses.
Senior attacker Stephanie Asher leads Elon in goals on the season with 23.
The Series – The Hokies and Phoenix have met twice previously, including last season's 13-12 overtime setback. Tech scored four goals to end regulation, including Kristine Loscalzo's strike with four seconds left to force overtime. Sloane Kessler scored 1:10 into overtime earning the win for Elon.
Next up – Tech jumps back into ACC play on Wednesday, March 28 when they take on the nationally ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. First draw is slated for 5 p.m., with coverage available through ACC Network Extra.
