BLACKSBURG - The No. 17 Virginia Tech lacrosse team returns to the Indoor Practice Facility Sunday, March 18 afternoon when they play host to the Delaware Blue Hens at 3 p.m.
The Hokies (6-3, 2-0) last took the field a week ago, defeating then No. 17 Notre Dame 9-6 for the program's first victory over the Irish. Paige Petty and Emma Harden each scored two goals apiece and Meagh Graham secured the victory making nine saves in goal.
Tech stands alone on top of the ACC standings at 2-0, following victories over Notre Dame and Duke.
Delaware (3-4) fell to top ranked Stony Brook 20-8 Tuesday afternoon.
The Blue Hens have recorded wins over Canisius, Monmouth and La Salle in 2018. Delaware midfielder Mia DeRuggiero has 20 assists, good for fourth in the nation. The Blue Hens are led in scoring by Sarah Bedard's 13 goals.
The Series – Virginia Tech is 2-3 all-time against Delaware in a series that dates back to 2006. Last season Tech beat the Blue Hens 15-7.
Kristine Loscalzo led the Hokies with four goals, and Emma Harden and Tristan McGinley each scored three goals.
Next up – The Hokies continue their home stretch against VCU on Wednesday, March 21st at Thompson Field. First draw is slated for 5 p.m.
