Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will make the trip to Ohio, facing Cincinnati and Xavier on Friday in Cincinnati before making the trip to Columbus to square off against OSU, Michigan and Rutgers (women) on Saturday.

IN THE RANKINGS
The Hokies enter the weekend ranked 19th in the men’s CSCAA TYR top-25 while the women are 24th. Ohio State comes in ranked 11th on the women’s side and 16th in the men’s standings. Michigan is top-10 in both with the women second and men seventh.
THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech is coming off a meet against rival Virginia. The Tech men downed the Hoos 218-133 while the women fell 163.5-189.5. Tech claimed 3-of-4 ACC weekly honors for their performance with Ian Ho winning Swimmer of the Week while Jack Gigliotti and Ashlynn Peters picked up diver honors.
The Hokies have tallied a combined 43 NCAA standards this season. Reka Gyorgy holds the top time in the ACC in the women’s 400 IM.
THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati split the last time out with the men defeating Miami (OH) while the women fell. The Bearcats recorded five individual wins on the men’s side while Lindsey Niehaus had two wins for the women’s side with three other Bearcats also recording individual wins. UC’s men sits first in the American Athletics Conference standings and the women are third.
THE MUSKETEERS
Xavier is coming off a quad meet with IUPUI, Ball State and University of Indianapolis with the women’s team sweeping the competition. The men’s team defeated Ball State. Emily Conners won three events at the meet, earning Big East Swimmer of the Week honors.
THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State defeated No. 17/23 Alabama the last time out on both the men’s and women’s side. Four swimmers won multiple events, including Kathrin Demler, Noah Lense, Liz Li and Meg Bailey. The Buckeyes also swept the top-five times in the men’s 200 fly and the top-three times in both the 500 and 1000 free events.
THE WOLVERINES
Michigan fell to No. 4 Indiana on the men’s side, but the women’s team picked up the win over the No. 10 Hoosiers the last time out. The Wolverines claimed a pair of distance wins as PJ Ransford won the 500 and 1000 free events for the men. On the women’s side, the Wolverines took 14-of-15 top-three finishes in the five freestyle events. This season the Wolverines women’s team has tallied 68 NCAA cut times and the men have 60.
THE SCARLET KNIGHTS (women)
Rutgers fell to Yale last weekend, but claimed the top spots in six of the 11 individual events. Francesca Bertotto and Vera Koprivova won two events each while Addison Walkowiak swept the 1- and 3-meter in diving.
