Incoming freshman joins US U-20 Women’s National Team Camp roster

Incoming freshman Ashley Meier has been called up to join the U-20 NationalTeam Camp in preparation for the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup this fall. Thesquad will depart for Osaka, Japan on June 10 for matches against Japan’s U-20National Team on June 17th and 20th.  

“This isa tremendous and well deserved opportunity for Ashley,†commented head coachChugger Adair. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a chance toplay in the World Cup and represent her country.  I am excited that thenational team sees Ashley's value and will bring her up to the U-20 squad fromthe U-18s. 

The Strongsville, Ohio, native has been a member of thenational team pools since she was 12 years old and is currently a member of theU-18 US National Team. The midfielder will join 21 athletes, under thedirection of the University of Virginia’s head coach Steve Swanson, who willlater take a smaller roster to China to compete in the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’sWorld Cup.
