BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech men's soccer team captured a 2-0 victory in an exhibition contest against George Mason at Tech Soccer Stadium on August 20. Junior Charlie Campbell had two goals in the match to lead the Hokies in the win, while freshman Phil Aseweh assisted on both goals.
Tech got on the board first when junior Campbell scored off a rebound to end the first half. Aseweh sent a ball in the box to Campbell who put the Hokies ahead, 1-0.
The Mundelein, Ill., native struck again in the second half. Campbell scored from the right side, after receiving a pass from sophomore Clarke Bentley, prior to gathering a pass from Aseweh.
Brendan Dunn registered seven saves in the match for the Hokies, stopping a key first half shot by George Mason's Draymond Washington.
The Patriots out-shot the Hokies 16-13 and held a 5-4 advantage on corner kicks, as well.
Tech will be back in action at Tech Soccer Stadium against VCU in their final match of the exhibition season on August 22 at 7 p.m.
