A key part of this year's offensive line ... Coaches are looking for him to be a more consistent football player ... Is critical for Tech at tackle ... Needs to have a big summer in the weight room ... Started the first six games at left guard last year ... A versatile player ... Mixes excellent size with a desire to succeed ...
A Talk With... In what way do you want to be remembered when you leave Virginia Tech? I want to be that guy who took over a great offensive tackle spot. Jon Dunn left here last year and I want to be the one that is known to have come in here, stepped up and played hard for the Hokies. What are your expectations for your senior season? You always expect to do well. We did well last year and won the ACC Championship. This year we have very high expectations. What is your favorite thing about your position? A lot of people don't like to be out there in space but I'm a big guy and it's going to take some work for a defensive end to get around me. What has been your best sports experience? I believe last year playing against Miami. They needed me to step up and play tackle. We got a win and it was my best experience since I've been here. What player do you see really stepping up and surprising people this year? I think Branden Ore will. He is a good tailback and in the scrimmages he stepped up and he will be a very good back for us. What is one thing that many people would be surprised to know about you? Everyone knows just about everything about me, especially on the team since we are always together. There isn't any one thing that people don't know about me. How do you get ready for a game? I like to stay by myself and listen to some music to get my mind focused. Then when we walk out of the tunnel, just be ready to play. If you could switch places with any player on your team, who would it be and why? I think I'd like to switch positions with Darryl Tapp. I'd like to see what would happen if I gave him a couple of moves and a bull rush every once in a while. Who has been the toughest person to go up against and why? I have to say Jim Davis. He is a great defensive end and can set you up with any move there is. If you had to listen to one song on repeat for the rest of your life, what would it be? "Tear The Club Up" by Little John. What is the best part of a Virginia Tech home game? The Hokie Walk. Walking through there with the fans giving you a high five before the game has got to be the best part. Who did you look up to as a freshman and sophomore? Anthony Davis was a great tackle. He really helped me a lot. Where have you been able to travel that you never thought you would since your freshman year at Virginia Tech? Kalamazoo, Michigan. I never really thought it was a real place until I got here so I would've never gone there if I hadn't have come to Virginia Tech. What game do you have highlighted on your schedule? N.C. State. They would be the one team I have highlighted for next year. Who would play Reggie Butler in a movie? Probably John Coffee. We are just real big humans. What are you going to miss the most after you leave Virginia Tech? I'm going to miss all the players and coaches. It's going to hurt a lot when I leave here. I'm just going to miss everyone. |
