CHARLOTTE – No. 3 seed Virginia Tech knocked off No. 6 seed North Carolina, 4-0, in the ACC Quarterfinals on Thursday night at the Harrington Athletics Village.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 4, North Carolina 0
It was a battle between pitchers through the first five innings. Holding the Tar Heels scoreless, Emma Lemley recorded three strikeouts and allowed just one hit to keep North Carolina off the board.
In the bottom of the fifth, a walk from McMillan and a hit by Jordan Lynch put runners on first and second for the Hokies, but they were unable to score.
With the bases loaded and two outs, Nora Abromavage delivered a clutch pinch-hit appearance and sent an RBI single to right field to put the Hokies up 2-0. With runners on first and second, Cori McMillan shot a double to left center to extend the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth.
