McMillan makes history with 30th home run of the season

CHARLOTTE – Third-seeded Virginia Tech fell to second-seeded Clemson, 10-9, in the ACC Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village.

Cori McMillan hit her 30th home run of the season and became the first ACC player to hit 30 home runs in a single season.

How It Happened: Clemson 10, Virginia Tech 9
Tech capitalized on a three early Clemson errors to take a 3-1 lead. With a runner on second, Cori McMillan went yard for the 30th time this season to extend the lead to 5-1. She became just the 17th player in Division I to hit 30 home runs in a season.

With the bases loaded for the Hokies in the top of the sixth, Kylie Aldridge ripped a three-RBI double to left center to extend the Tech lead to 8-2. The Hokies added another to make it 9-2 after LeGette singled through the right side to score Lyla Blackwell for her second RBI of the day.

Clemson took advantage of the Hokies' five walks and rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the 10-9 lead. The Hokies were unable to tie the game in the top of the seventh.
