Cori McMillan got the Hokies off to a hot start once again with her second leadoff home run of the weekend to make it 1-0 Hokies. It marks McMillan’s nation-leading 25th home run of the season.
After a quick inning of work from Emma Lemley in the circle, Michelle Chatfield blasted her third home run of the weekend with a two-run shot to center field to extend the lead to 3-0.
With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, Jordan Lynch ripped a two-RBI single up the middle to extend the Hokie advantage to 5-0.

Some heads-up base running in the top of the sixth led two more Hokies to cross home plate, making it a 7-0 contest. With runners threatening in the bottom of the sixth, Cal attempted a squeeze play, but the bunt landed right in front of catcher Zoe Yaeger who tagged the runner out at home to keep Cal off the board.
