LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 16/17 Virginia Tech swept both games of its doubleheader against Louisville on Friday night at Ulmer Stadium. The Hokies won the first game, 10-0 and the second game, 5-2.

Six home runs were hit by four different Hokies over both games, with Cori McMillan and Michelle Chatfield each hitting two home runs.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 10, Louisville 2 (5 inn.)
Kylie Aldridge got the Hokies on the board as she cleared the bases with a single to center field, giving the Hokies an early 3-0 advantage. Two batters later, Cori McMillan blasted her first home run of the day – a two-run shot to left field – to give Tech a 5-0 advantage.

The scoring continued for the Hokies in the top of the third as Michelle Chatfield blasted a two-RBI home run to left field to make it 7-0.

Tech added two more runs in the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth, Kylie Aldridge made it a 10-0 game with her first home run of the season.

As the Hokies racked up runs, Sophie Kleiman shined in the circle. She allowed just two hits and struck out two batters over five innings pitched.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 5, Louisville 2
Tech wasted no time as Cori McMillan hit a leadoff solo home run to center field for her 10th long ball of the season. Shortly after, Rachel Castine blasted her second home run of the season to give the Hokies an early 3-0 lead.

Louisville cut the deficit with a two-run shot down the left field line in the bottom of the first.

The game remained 3-2 in favor of the Hokies until the top of the seventh. After a textbook bunt from Lyla Blackwell to get on first, Michelle Chatfield homered to left field to add two insurance runs and take the 5-2 lead.

Emma Lemley tallied five strikeouts and allowed four hits over seven innings pitched for her 11th win of the season.
