LEXINGTON, Ky. – Emma Lemley threw her fourth no-hitter of the season in the No. 16 Hokies’ 2-0 win over Kentucky on Wednesday night at John Cropp Stadium.

The senior was lights out for the Hokies – striking out nine batters over the complete-game shutout. It marks her fourth no-hitter of the season.

With four on the year, Lemley is second all-time for the most no-hitters in program history in a single season. The four are the most in a single season since Angela Tinchard in 2008.

How It Happened: Virginia Tech 2, Kentucky 0
The Hokies wasted no time striking first as an RBI single from Bre Peck drove in Cori McMillan for the first run of the game.

As Emma Lemley continued to hold Kentucky scoreless, Tech scored again in the top of the fourth. With runners on second and third, Jayden Jones grounded out to shortstop but not before Nora Abromavage scored the second Hokie run of the game.

Through five complete innings, Lemley tossed six strikeouts with no Wildcats reaching base.

With one out remaining in the bottom of the seventh, Michelle Chatfield caught the final out in foul territory for Lemley’s fourth no-hitter of the season.
