Q: What’s your major and why did you choose it?

CH: Civil Engineering — Throughout high school, I had the opportunity to participate in a four-year pre-engineering program. During my junior year, I took a civil engineering/architecture-focused class and discovered how much I enjoyed it. I was drawn to the variety of options in civil engineering and the ability to explore many different disciplines within the degree.

Q: Where are you from?

CH: Ocean City, Maryland.

Q: Why did you choose to attend Virginia Tech?

CH: I chose to attend Virginia Tech because of its top-ranking engineering program and a strong sense of school spirit. On my first campus tour, I saw the Hokie Pride, something I didn’t feel at any of the other schools I visited.

Q: Favorite part about going to VT Athletics events?

CH: My favorite part about going to VT athletic events is the energy. Every football game, no matter what our record is, brings out a full stadium. It doesn’t matter what the score is — Hokie fans will keep screaming on every third down and go through every chant like it’s a championship game.

Q: Favorite Virginia Tech tradition?

CH: My favorite Virginia Tech tradition is “Enter Sandman.” I believe Virginia Tech has the best entrance in college football and when the music and the whole stadium starts jumping and screaming it shows the passion that Hokie fans have.

Q: Which Virginia Tech team do you follow the most and why?

CH: I follow the football team the most. Football has always been my favorite sport growing up, and having a sold-out Lane Stadium for most home games makes each game an amazing experience. For most of my life, I wasn’t really into college sports, but as soon as I started at Virginia Tech, I instantly became a fan of the football team. No matter the score, the excitement, tradition, and potential of the program make it easy to stay invested.

Q: Favorite past or current Hokie athlete?

CH: My favorite Hokie athlete is Michael Vick. Growing up as an Eagles fan, I’ve always been a fan of his. With the rise of scrambling quarterbacks in both the NFL and college football today, it’s clear just how much of an impact he had on the game.

Q: What’s your favorite Virginia Tech sports moment or game?

CH: The Purdue football game on September 9th, 2023. Even though we lost, it was one of the most fun games I’ve ever been to. Blacksburg experienced a massive weather delay that lasted several hours — the longest in college football history. When the delay started and we were told to leave, the student section stayed as long as possible, chanting, “We’re not leaving!” until we were eventually forced out of the stadium. Over five hours later, the game finally resumed, the stadium filled back up, and we nearly came back to win. It showed the dedication that Hokie fans have.
