GREEN BAY, Wis. — Wide receiver Jaylin Lane has been drafted No. 128 by the Washington Commanders in the 4th of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Hokie brings five years of collegiate football experience to a Commanders squad that reached the NFC Championship last season.
Jaylin Lane’s path to the NFL first began at Middle Tennessee State. The Clover, South Carolina native spent three years as a Blue Raider, his most successful being a 2022 campaign that saw him lead the team with 69 receptions and post 940 receiving yards. His efforts as a junior earned him Second Team All-C-USA as a punt returner and an Honorable Mention All-C-USA as a wide receiver and kick returner.
Lane would see similar production in his two years as a Hokie. In 12 games as a senior, the 5-foot-10 wideout would haul in 41 passes for 538 yards and six scores. His 38 receptions, 466 yards and two touchdowns the following season would earn him a 71.1 overall offensive grade from PFF.
Joining 16 other Hokies at the NFL Combine, Lane would put up numbers that turned the heads of scouts in attendance. On the heels of a blazing fast 4.34 40-yard dash (tied for 3rd best among wide receivers), the South Carolina product would leap 11 feet on the broad jump and soar 40” on the vertical jump.
Lane joins a Commanders system that promises to benefit his skillset as both a receiver and a returner. The South Carolina product is poised to see targets from quarterback Jayden Daniels who, after a season that included over 3500 passing yards, was recognized as the NFL Rookie of the Year last season.
