Hokie ClubGREEN BAY, Wis. – For the first time since 2018, five Virginia Tech football players were taken in the NFL Draft. It’s the 11th time the Hokies have had five or more players selected in a single draft.
The 2025 NFL Draft featured two Tech offensive players and three defensive players being selected.
Running back Bhayshul Tuten was the first player off the board, getting selected in the fourth round (No. 104 overall) by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He became the third Hokie to be selected by the franchise. The last Hokie that was drafted to Duval County was Ernest Wilford in 2004.
Wide receiver Jaylin Lane joined Tuten in the fourth round when he was selected with the 128th overall pick by the Washington Commanders to become the 10th Hokie headed to the nation’s capital.
With the first pick in the sixth round (No. 177 overall), the Buffalo Bills selected cornerback Dorian Strong. Strong is the 31st defensive back selected in the NFL Draft since 1997.
Joining Strong in the sixth round were edge Antwaun Powell-Ryland (No. 209 overall) to the reigning Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles and defensive tackle Aeneas Peebles (No. 210 overall) to the Baltimore Ravens. It’s the second time in the 90 year history of the NFL Draft that Hokies have been selected with back-to-back picks. Caleb Farley (Tennessee) and Christian Darrisaw (Minnesota) were the 23rd and 24th selections in the first round of the 2021 Draft.
The two offensive players going in the first four rounds in the same draft for Tech marked the first time that's happened since 2008, when both Duane Brown (Houston, No. 26) and Eddie Royal (Denver, No. 42) went in the first and second rounds.
Tech has now had a Hokie selected in 30 of the last 32 drafts and the Hokies have now had 168 players taken in the NFL Draft in their storied history.
