BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech head men's basketball coach Mike Young announced Monday former Delaware point guard Izaiah Pasha will join the Hokies. He brings three years of college eligibility to Blacksburg.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard averaged 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and a team-high 3.9 assists per game last season for the Blue Hens (16–20, 5–13 CAA). He shot 51.7% (152-294) from the field, 33.3% (19-57) from 3-point range and 76.9% (80-104) from the free-throw line. Pasha played in 34 games, starting 33, and posted a team-best 132 assists for the season. He scored in double figures 23 times and recorded 12 games with five-or-more assists.
"We are thrilled to welcome Izaiah and his family into our men's basketball program," Young said. "He will make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor for us. Izaiah has great positional size, versatility and explosiveness. As good as he is on the court, he's even more impressive off the court. Izaiah is an outstanding young man, and quite simply is a terrific fit for us."
After a stellar freshman year at Delaware, Pasha earned CAA Rookie of the Year. His freshman season highlights include a 22-point performance at North Carolina A&T, a 10-rebound, nine-assist, three-block performance against Campbell, and a 21-point, eight-rebound, seven-assist outing in the CAA tournament championship against UNC Wilmington. He was a six-time CAA Rookie of the Week, leading the conference freshmen in points and assists.
Pasha was named to the CAA all-tournament team after steering the Blue Hens, who entered the postseason as the league’s No. 12 seed, to the championship game. In Delaware's five games, he accounted for 67 points on 24 of 52 (46%) shooting to go with 32 rebounds, 29 assists, just eight turnovers, five blocks and five steals — averages of 13.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. As mentioned prior, Pasha erupted in the title game for 21 points, eight boards and seven dimes against UNCW.
A 2023 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara High School, Pasha spent a prep year at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn., during the 2023–24 season. A former three-star recruit by 247Sports, he originally signed with Iona in 2022 before reclassifying.
As a senior at Cardinal O’Hara, he averaged 17.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.9 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game—ranking fifth in the Philadelphia Catholic League in scoring. He earned All-Philadelphia Catholic League First Team and Pennsylvania Sportswriters Boys' Basketball All-State 4A First Team honors. As a junior, he posted 16.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game and was named to the All-State 4A Second Team while also being selected as Delaware County Player of the Year by the Delaware County Times. He spent his first two years at Central Dauphin and played AAU basketball for Philly Pride.
Pasha becomes the second Delaware transfer in the Young era, joining Justyn Mutts, who came to the Hokies in 2020.
A Harrisburg, Pa., native, Pasha chose Virginia Tech over Texas Tech, Gonzaga and Penn State.
