BLACKSBURG – No. 17/18 Virginia Tech dropped the final game of the series, 9-2, against Virginia on Sunday afternoon at Tech Softball Park.

The Hokies won the series with wins on Friday and Saturday.

How It Happened: Virginia 9, Virginia Tech 2
Virginia took an early 1-0 lead but an RBI double to right center by Rachel Castine tied up the game. Zoe Yaeger hit a single to center field to bring in Castine as the Hokies saw themselves up 2-1 in the third.

The Cavaliers tied the contest up at 2-2 with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. The Hokies responded with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, but an illegal substitution caused the third out as the game entered the sixth inning tied.
