CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Virginia Tech football is officially set to host its inaugural matchup versus Cal as a member of the ACC, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. The Hokies and Golden Bears will compete on Worsham Field at Lane Stadium during primetime on Friday, Oct. 24.
The matchup marks just the second matchup between the two programs, with the first contest occurring at the Insight Bowl in 2003. Game times for the 2025 season have yet to be announced. Stay updated as kickoff times are announced with our Key Plays newsletter.
Brent Pry and his new-look staff will open September with three straight home games against Vanderbilt, Old Dominion and Wofford. Tech’s new offensive coordinator, Philip Montgomery, and defensive coordinator, Sam Seifkes, will also showcase their schemes to Hokie Nation in the coming weeks during the Spring Game presented by PMSI.
