Stanford, Calif. - The Virginia Tech lacrosse team’s two-game winning streak was snapped Friday night by the eighth-ranked Stanford Cardinal who held Tech scoreless for a 34-minute stretch of the game as they earned a 23-4 victory.

The Hokies were on the from foot early, taking a 3-1 lead thanks to two goals from senior Kate Elam and a man up goal from midfielder Mia Pozzi.

From there, the Cardinal got back into the game as they owned the draw circle 20-10, which led to a large discrepancy in shots with the hosts taking 40 and the Hokies having just eight.

Marie Cacciabaudio made her first career start in attack.

The Hokies are back at Thompson Field on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. against nationally-ranked North Carolina.
