The matchup, which sees a Virginia team (5-6, 3-4 ACC) visit Tech (5-6, 3-4 ACC) in a full-capacity Lane Stadium for the first time in six years, will have massive implications for claiming bowl eligibility. Things to Know

Ticket Tuesday Item Pick-Up
Fans who bought tickets during the summer ticket promotion, ‘Ticket Tuesday,’ will receive their “Our State” themed drink koozie on Saturday. Purchasers get one item per ticket and can grab their koozie during game day on the Upper South concourse behind section 507.

Battle for the Bowl
Entering the contest Saturday, both Virginia and Virginia Tech will play for the very important sixth win, which would give the victor bowl eligibility as the season concludes. For the Hokies, it’s a similar predicament to the 2023 season that saw the Hokies claim bowl eligibility with a 55-17 win at Virginia. With a win at home, the Hokies would make a bowl game in consecutive seasons and mark head coach Brent Pry’s second bowl-eligible season in three years at the helm. If the Hokies can get it done, it will be the first time Tech will play in the postseason in consecutive years since 2018-19.

Sellout Crowd for Commonwealth Clash
For the first time since 2012, Lane Stadium has sold out every home matchup this season, with the contest against Virginia being the sixth of six home sellouts. Boasting a crowd of over 66,000 seats, Lane will surely be rocking on Saturday as it welcomes a Virginia team that has won three of five road games this fall. While the two teams most recently played each other in Blacksburg in 2020, the game was played with limited-capacity seating. When the Cavaliers roll into town on Saturday, the electric atmosphere will be a contributing factor.

Players to Watch

Wide Receiver Da’Quan Felton
Standing at a towering 6-foot-5 and weighing 216 pounds, graduate student Da’Quan Felton has been a factor in the Hokie offense this fall. Tallying 310 receiving yards through eleven starts this season, the Portsmouth, Virginia native boasts a 10.3 yards per catch average and a 74.4 receiving grade on passes of 10 to 19 yards from Pro Football Focus (PFF). In the contest against Virginia last fall, the then-redshirt senior exploded for career highs in receiving yards (133) and touchdowns (2) in one game, including an 84-yard score early in the third quarter. Fans should keep their eyes peeled for another breakout performance against a Virginia defense that has allowed an average of 404 yards per game to opposing offenses.

STAR Keonta Jenkins
Graduate student Keonta Jenkins will look to conclude his fifth and final season as a Hokie with the same intensity the veteran has shown over eleven games this fall. Against Duke, the Jacksonville, Florida native posted a team-high seven tackles for the Hokie defense, including 2.5 TFLs for 20 yards. Jenkins also demonstrated his defensive skills with a forced fumble late in the fourth quarter of the contest, allowing teammate and defensive lineman Cole Nelson to recover and gain possession with 1:44 left in the game. The performance was Jenkins’s fourth consecutive game with seven or more tackles and lifted his total tackles to 60 on the year. Look for the 6-foot-3, 219-pound STAR to be a force against the Cavaliers.
