Tech contingent fares well at NFL Scouting Combine

  The NFL Combine, held at Lucas OilStadium in Indianapolis, wrapped up on March 3 and several former Tech playersperformed very well. Here’s an overview, with the results coming from nfl.com:


• Cody Grimm – Grimm, a formerwhip linebacker, was a top performer in both the 40-yard dash and thethree-cone drill. He ran the 40 in 4.64 seconds, which was the fourth-fastesttime among linebackers, and he ran the three-cone drill in 6.58 seconds – topsamong linebackers.

Grimm measured at nearly 5-11 and203 pounds and projects as a safety in the NFL.

• Jason Worilds – Worilds, aformer defensive end, stood out at the Combine, ranking as a top performer infour different categories (40-yard dash, vertical jump, three-cone drill and20-yard shuttle). His vertical jump of 38 inches tied for the top spot amongthe defensive linemen there, while his 40 time of 4.72 seconds ranked ninthamong defensive linemen. He ran a 4.29 in the 20-yard shuttle and 6.95 in thethree-cone drill, which were seventh and third, respectively, in thosecategories among the defensive linemen.

• Ed Wang – Wang exhibited hisstrength at the Combine, recording 29 repetitions on the bench press (225pounds). That number was tied for 10th best among offensive linemen.

• Kam Chancellor – Chancellorperformed well at the Combine. He recorded 22 reps on the bench press, a numberthat was fifth best among safeties.

• Stephan Virgil and Brent Bowdenalso competed at the Combine.
